Shulga Ivan

1889 – 1956

Ukrainian painter, teacher, master of paintings and drawings, the representative of social realism. He has also worked in the newspaper and magazine graphics, creating art postcards, wall calendars, political posters, illustrated books.

He studied at the Art School of the Odessa Society of Fine Arts (1906-1911 gg.), In the Imperial Academy of Arts (1911-1917 biennium).

Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR in 1946 is included in the “Unified artistic rating of 10,000 of the world’s best artists XVIII-XXI centuries.” And in the list of 100 most outstanding artists of Ukraine.

From 1927 he was a participant of numerous regional, Ukrainian, republican, national, international and foreign art exhibitions. Two personal exhibitions of the artist took place in Kharkov in 1961 and in 1989.

His works are in the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, the State Historical Museum, as well as many other museums in Russia and Ukraine and in private collections of art collectors in Ukraine, Russia and other foreign countries.
